Watch Tony Robbins on NBC Tonight!

Hello Fabulous Women!

Below is a very important message from Chet Holmes, America’s greatest marketing strategist, which I am forwarding to you all.  Yes, you can take advantage of the great offer at the end of the message, and I highly recommend, that you do, the material is outstanding and will help you to double your sales within the next 12 months.

But please also read the message regarding Tony Robbins amazing new program, Breakthroughs, which airs tonight (Tuesday) at 8PM ET on NBC.  I have seen some previews of this program and I promise you, it will be a truly inspiring experience.  I’ll be watching, and I hope you all will, too!

Message from Chet Holmes:

In an effort to reach and positively impact even more people, Tony Robbins has created 6 one-hour primetime television specials that begin airing on NBC starting this Tuesday (TONIGHT), July 27th at 8 p.m., 7 Central (in the same time slot that Biggest Loser holds in the fall.)

Dear Ann,

Most of my subscribers are highly successful business owners so I’m going to respect your time and attention and tell you exactly what this email is about.

1. Tony has created six TV specials that you need to watch. They will run every Tuesday evening on NBC for the next six Tuesdays including THIS Tuesday.

2. I want to support Tony’s valiant effort to put something positive out there, and I hope you will as well. Everyone needs more and better tools and insights to improve their lives. You’re going to want to forward this to friends, clients, and family. And I’m going to ask you to do that right now.

3. For you and those that you forward this to, there is a serious free gift embedded in this email.

About the TV Show:

After more than a dozen offers and years of turning away producers and networks, Tony finally found a format that appealed to him and one that can really impact you, your friends, family and clients.

I was in the studio audience for segments of some of these shows, and there was not a dry eye in the house. You will be inspired, moved, motivated and profoundly affected. I mean this first episode is a knockout. Imagine you’re on your honeymoon and jump in the pool and hit your head on a step and, wham, you’re a quadriplegic for life.

That doesn’t just affect you. It seriously impacts your loved ones. In the very first episode, Tony shows you that “the story” you tell yourself shapes the entire quality of your life. Powerful. You have to see it.

Below, see what others have said about this profound television experience and the LINK that’s just for insiders.

Forward this to everyone you know and why you want to do that:

Many of us (if not every single one of us) have forwarded on jokes and inspirational little ditties to our friends, families and even clients. It’s probably fair to say that none of those profoundly affected people or changed their lives. They might bring a little smile, but here’s why you want everyone to see this life-enriching show, Breakthrough with Tony Robbins. This show helps people (you as well) see that the “story” you tell yourself shapes the entire quality and destiny of your life. And that’s going to give you (and the folks you forward this onto) more than a little smile.

So please, as a favor to me and as a way to use your email for a terrific cause, send this to everyone you know asking them to WATCH TONY’S PRIME TIME TV SHOW TUESDAY AT 8:00. Do it now.

Gift for you and everyone you pass this onto:

Tony and I built a program called: Four Ways to Double Sales in 12 months. Everyone you pass this onto will be able to download that program as well. Even in this bad economic period, all four of these ideas help dramatically strengthen any company and give you paths to serious success.

Here is the link to download the free gift—a 90 minute training program from me and Tony Robbins. www.businessbreakthroughs.com/doublesales

The Law of Diminishing Intention

Entrepreneurial Quote of the Day:

“Don’t wait.  The time will never be just right.” ~ Napoleon Hill

Hello Fabulous Women!

Are you familiar with the Law of Diminishing Intentions (LODI)?  You may not know it by that name, but I’m sure you, like myself, have been intimately familiar with it.  This law states that, in the absence of action, the determination and commitment one has to accomplish something diminishes over time.  Put another way, the longer you put off doing something, the less likely you are to ever do it.

If you have noticed that you have not received a blog post/newsletter from me in some time, you will understand that this is a case in point, where I have allowed the LODI to operate quite freely and decisively!  Where I used to post once or twice a week, I actually have not written one new thing since early March.   Eeeeuuw, I hate admitting that.

It is true that I have been extremely busy, and with some great things that are moving me forward toward some of my most important goals – more on that later.

Because what is also true, and what I want to address now, is that I intended to keep blogging throughout this time, but didn’t do it.

Now if I had made a decision back in March to take an official hiatus from writing, that would have been in integrity.  Instead, I just kept intending to get started again, but as each week went by, it seemed harder and harder to get started again, my determination and commitment were less and less strong, and I took no action.  Week after week, saying “I really need to start writing again,” and week and after week of taking no action at all, letting my excuses run the show.

Does this sound familiar at all?

So why am I writing now?  What has changed?

The fact is, the only thing that changed is that today, when I had that same thought, I walked over to my computer, opened up a document, and started typing.

That’s it.  No huge epiphany, no burning message I suddenly had to share.  No blaze of brilliance.

You see, there is one thing and one thing only that can break the grip of the Law of Diminishing Intentions.  And that thing is action.  It doesn’t have to be inspired action, and it certainly doesn’t have to come from some deep understanding of why you haven’t been in action before.  Action alone is what it takes, and without action, no amount of understanding or insight will amount to a hill of beans.

So, ladies, I’m back, and if you are still willing to listen, here is my challenge for you all.  If there is any area in your life where you can see the Law of Diminishing Intentions operating, I challenge you to take action today, right now.  Whether it be in your business, your home, your health, your family – any area at all where your intentions have been sliding down that slippery slope to nothingness, take action today.  Big action, small action, doesn’t matter, just move forward in some way, and break that Law of Diminishing Intentions, stop it in its tracks.

I promise you, you will be glad you did.

I am!

It’s good to be back.  And you’ll be hearing from me again, soon.

Have a fabulous day!

The Power of Clarity

Entrepreneurial Quote of the Day:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore.  Dream.  Discover.” ~ Mark Twain

Hello Fabulous Women!

I know it sounds trite but I’m saying it anyway – I cannot believe this year is almost over!  In less than two weeks it will be 2010.

In the new year to come, many things will happen, including, for me, my 25th college reunion at Harvard.  This has me reflecting and wondering if my life has turned out anything like what I thought it would be, way back then when I was graduating from college.

When I asked myself that, the thing that struck me was that, at that age, I never really did think this far ahead.  I didn’t even think five years ahead.  Other than knowing that I wanted to be happily married with children – which is exactly what happened – I realize that I had no other clear plans or goals for my life this far out in the future.

I invite each of you look back over the past 25 years or so as well, and ask yourself the same questions.  What, if anything, were you absolutely clear that you wanted to have or do in your life?  And what happened?

I would be willing to bet that those things you were clear that you wanted are the things that happened.

Some of you were sure from an early age that you wanted to follow a particular career, and that is most likely exactly how it went.  I had no such clarity about my work life, and so I have been on a (mostly) delightful journey in that realm, from working with inner city adolescents to owning and driving for a cab company on Maui, to becoming a massage therapist, to being director of a wellness center, to sales, to being a life and business coach.  About the only thing I was always clear about in my work life was that I wanted to help people and make a difference, and so that has been the common thread.

My point – and I do have one! – is that clarity, our own internal clarity, is what truly determines our lives.

So if there is an area in your life or my life where things aren’t going our way, consider that what’s missing is clarity about what we truly want.  Consider that those areas are the areas where we keep things a bit vague, where we avoid really knowing what’s happening, and most importantly, where we have never clearly defined for ourselves what we want in that area.

If there is an area in your life that is not working out as well as you’d like, I’d be willing to bet that that is an area where you have settled for just knowing what you don’t want, but have never gotten crystal clear about what you do want.  Believe me, there’s a difference.  If there is one thing I have learned in this life, it’s that knowing what you don’t want will never get you what you want.

I’m not talking about small things here, I’m truly talking about the very fabric and nature of our lives and how we create them.  We all have things we’d like to change about our lives, and we tend to focus on taking action as the way to make changes.  What I’m saying is that while action is critical, it is clarity, or lack of it, that determines those actions, and ultimately determines the course and the experience of our lives.

So here is my challenge for the coming year – the coming years! – for all of us.  Choose an area of your life that is not going the way you want.  Choose it, and then create it.  Sit yourself down and write what you want, what matters to you, what you want to do, what you want to be feeling, how you want to be in that area.  Talk to the people in your life about it, tell them what you want, share how you feel about it and listen to their experiences and connect with them on a new level.  Declare that this area, whether it is relationships or work life or family or money or creative expression or anything else you want to change, is now your focus and you are taking it on.

Create clarity, and more clarity, and more clarity, in that area, and see what opportunities for action and movement and passion and achievement in that area start to open up for you.

Clarity is where the fun happens, it’s where life is juicy and challenging and fulfilling.  Lack of clarity is the grind, it’s where life is daunting and overwhelming and helpless and resigned.

I know which I want more of in my life.  How about you?

You rock because you do the right thing even when others don’t, and that makes a difference.

You rock because you have the courage to recreate yourself, to push yourself to grow and develop every day. Or at least most days!

You rock because you won’t settle for second best for the people you love.

You rock because you are honest, caring and kind, even when things aren’t going your way, and that is a huge gift to everyone who knows you.

I Like Mike

Entrepreneurial Quote of the Day:

“It is never too late to be who you might have been.” ~ George Eliot

Hello Fabulous Women!

I like Mike a lot – Mike Litman, that is.  Mike is a coach and trainer and I love reading his blogs.  He has a great way with words and a gift for taking an important concept and bottom lining it in a way that has a palpable impact.

For example, one of my favorite quotes related to creating financial/business success is from Mike:

“Every level of income demands a new you.”  Isn’t that great?  It just cuts to the chase to make the point that to create something new, it’s yourself you have to recreate.  Love it.

I was prompted to direct you all to check out Mike Litman today because of the most recent blog post he wrote, “Why Self Discipline Is Tough And How To Make it Easier.”   Mike writes with his usual honesty and clarity about the realities of making changes in our lives and what makes a difference.

As a women’s business coach, I love what Mike has to say about the importance of creating a vision and the immediate impact that has on our lives here and now.  It inspired me to “go back to the future” and revisit my own five year vision of my life, and believe me, that has already impacted my life today.

I highly recommend this post to all of you.  As Mike says, put on your Nike’s and run over to his blog to read it: Mike Litman.

Go ahead, read Mike’s post, and I also highly recommend subscribing to his blog, because if you are looking for inspiration, support and motivation for creating success, Mike is one of the best out there.  Enjoy, and let yourself get inspired!

Have a fabulous day!

What’s on Your To Do List? Does It Make You Smile?

Entrepreneurial Quote of the Day:

“I’ve lived through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened.” ~ Mark Twain

Hello Fabulous Women!

I suspect I am not alone in having a long list of “things to do.”  From little things like folding the laundry to much more ambitious items, like writing a grant proposal or creating a marketing strategy, our lists seem never ending, don’t they?

Don’t get me wrong, I love lists.  I love that visceral thrill of crossing a finally completed item off that sucker (although nowadays it’s usually clicking “Complete” in Outlook rather than the thick line drawn through on the paper.  I miss that line…)

And I love making new lists, thinking of new goals, pushing myself to think bigger, get organized and get in action!

And have you ever done this – you find an old “to do list” from a year or more ago, in a pocket maybe, and you look over the old items, and then instead of just throwing it out you take the time to find a pen and cross out all the things you’ve since done on that old list?  I have, many times.  No way I’m throwing that old list out until I’ve had the pleasure of crossing things out!

I’ve been looking at my own lists, and noticing that there are certain items that I keep pushing forward, never quite getting to them, while others get checked off quickly.  I also notice that sometimes my lists are full of things I don’t really want to do but feel I need to do.  Not all of the time, by any means, but sometimes there really isn’t a single thing on there that makes me smile.

I have thought about this quite a bit, and I have decided to make a new rule about my lists.  The rule is this: For every one thing on my list that I am not excited about doing (like, say, reorganizing my files and tax records) there must be at least two things that I love to do (like, for instance, working in my garden or calling a friend to catch up and reconnect).

That’s right, it’s a minimum two to one ratio, and I suspect after awhile I’m going to wonder why it’s only two to one.  In fact, I’m wondering already!  Forget two to one, the NEW new rule is three to one.  For every single “have to” on my list there will be three “want to’s.”

Life is too short to spend a lot of time doing things that don’t make you smile.  I challenge you all to take a look at your own lists and make sure you have more than enough on there that will light you up and make today great.  And tomorrow.  And so on!

Have a Fabulous Day!

Your Very Best

Entrepreneurial Quote of the Day:

“What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail?” Robert Schuller

Hello Fabulous Women!

We all have days (or weeks, or longer!) when we just don’t think we can do it.  When the problems seem way bigger than we are.  When the last thing we feel is that we are powerful or effective.  When even surviving seems in question, and thriving seems like a fantasy we can’t even relate to.

It’s not always that way, but maybe some of you are even having that kind of day today.

If you are, I urge you to remember two things:

You are bigger than you think you are.

You don’t have to do it alone.

Those two things really are the essence of coaching, and why I am a coach.  I know, from my own life, that coaching allows me to step outside my own limited vision of myself and what I’m capable of.  And it forces me to stop trying to do it all on my own – something I should know by now, but it’s been a hard habit to break.  (I was always the queen of “It’s all up to me,” and “I’ve got it handled.”)  But coaching takes me out of that old pattern and frees me to see both how big and unstoppable I really am, and how much help and support is there if I’ll only be open to it.

I recently came across a fabulous clip from a movie, “Facing the Giants,” that captures, in a few minutes, the power of coaching and what becomes possible when you stop believing in the limits you’ve created and start to give it all your very best.

If you do nothing else today, watch this video: Your Very Best

Give yourself permission to be inspired. And then ask yourself where in your life would coaching make a difference.  Consider scheduling a free coaching session with me, and see what coaching makes possible.  I passionately believe in the power of coaching to change lives, businesses, and the world.  Call me and find out why for yourself.

Have a fabulous day and give it your very best!

Is Your Sex Life Affecting Your Business Success? Hmmm…

Entrepreneurial Quote of the Day:

“May you live as long as you wish and love as long as you live.” – Robert A Heinlein

Hello Fabulous Women!

Have I got a great business tip for you – and perfect for a Friday!  A“multipassionate” woman entrepreneur, Marie Forleo has a great question for us all: Is Your Sex Life Affecting the Success of Your Business?

Please check out this great blog post from Marie, which includes 9 reasons why more sex will boost your business.  It’s a great article, and let’s face it, we all need a little reminder and nudge on occasion to get our heads – and the rest of our wonderful bodies – out of our businesses and into – well, that’s up to you!

After all, we aren’t putting all this time and energy into building our businesses just for the business – didn’t it have something to do with being able to spend more time with the ones we love?  I believe it did…

Have a GREAT and successful weekend!

You have all the time in the world – just like everyone else

Entrepreneurial Quote of the Day:

“Don’t say that you don’t have enough time.  You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Theresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein.”  — H. Jackson Brown, JR.

Hello Fabulous Women!

How many times a day do you say – or think – “I don’t have the time,” or “There’s not enough time!” ?

When I ask women entrepreneurs what their biggest obstacles are, not having enough time is always right up there at or near the top of their lists.

Several years ago, I had a huge breakthrough in how I relate to time, to my time.  One day someone asked me to do something, and I found myself saying that I didn’t have the time.  I was suddenly struck by the fact that that wasn’t true.

This realization challenged me at a very deep level and forced me to be honest about myself and my life in an uncomfortable but very powerful way.

Now, I don’t mean that I suddenly remembered that I had hours of unplanned time available to me.  What I mean is that I realized I had plenty of time, all the time there is, in fact, all the time anyone has ever had, BUT I was going to be doing something else with that time.

That realization made me see that if I say that I can’t do something because there isn’t enough time, then I am the victim of a circumstance called “not enough time.”  And since there is no way I or anyone else can ever create more time, then I am the victim of a circumstance that is insurmountable and can never be changed, which is about as much of a victim as I or you can ever be.

On the other hand, I can choose to get real about the fact that I do have “the time” – I have all the time anyone else has, all the time anyone has ever had. Being honest about that, rather than hiding behind the idea of not having the time, means that I can be responsible for what I choose to do with my time.  In fact, it means that I have to be responsible for those choices.

This does not mean that I no longer struggle with finding the time to do all the things I want to do and am committed to doing.  I wish!  Between being a mom and a wife and an entrepreneur and a friend and so on, I am challenged with time every day, believe me.

However, I truly no longer say “I don’t have the time.”  If I am saying no to something, I say that I am already committed to doing something else with that time instead.  Instead of “I don’t have time to write another blog post,” it’s “I’m going to help my daughter with her homework now.”

And more importantly, if I don’t get something done that I had on my list that day, I don’t bemoan that I didn’t have the time.  Instead, I acknowledge to myself that I did something else with that time.

This is not only being honest with myself, it also helps me to acknowledge how I used my time that day, and every day, and that is POWERFUL.

Here’s the difference:

If I am coming from a context of “not enough time,” all I can see is what I didn’t accomplish because I “didn’t have the time.”  This leaves me feeling like someone who never gets enough done because I am a victim of something I can never overcome, the demon called “not enough time.”

BUT, if I am coming from a context of “how did I spend my time,” I can see what I did accomplish and also see how I might have made different choices and how that would have led to different results.  This leaves me the victim of nothing.

It leaves me the master of my life, the one who is responsible for using her time wisely and well, and for dealing with the consequences when I don’t.

That is not always comfortable, but for me, it beats being a victim any way you look at it!

Here’s my challenge for you:

I invite you to take the phrase “I don’t have the time” out of your vocabulary entirely.  Take it on that you are not allowed to use that, and see what else you find yourself saying in its place, how else you can look at and make choices about all the opportunities/demands/desires/commitments in your life.

Then let me know what happens!  All you powerful women entrepreneurs, suddenly making even more powerful choices about how you spend your time?  Watch out world!

–Ann
